Greater Europe Mission Lunch & Learn

With several upstream projects having a footprint in Europe, we wanted to share what the Greater Europe Mission is all about. We will share a couple of personal stories of past mission trips and give a broad overview of GEM. Then we will discuss how GEM is setup to explore ways you can serve the mission field in Europe. You can help through short serve opportunities (1 - 4 weeks), through a program called Business as Mission, prayer, or donations. Please join us for a free lunch and fellowship.May 31st, 2017EMHC 11:30 - 12:30 pm, Wellness 4 3A.361**Lunch provided!Add the Event to Your Calendar here**Contact James Steves for questions.GEM’s Vision: God expanding His kingdom through all peoples of Europe to the world. GEM’s Mission: Reaching Europe by multiplying disciples and growing Christ’s Church.Founder Bob Evans’ experience in World War II showed him the great need and spiritual despair that had seized Europe. With support from Billy Graham and others, he started Greater Europe Mission in 1949 by sharing the Gospel on the streets of Paris and opening a Bible school in France. We’ve come a long way since then, but Europe is still in desperate need. Most people who visit Europe today are unaware of the empty churches and great spiritual need because they still perceive Europe to be “Christian”. Shockingly, despite prevalent cultural Christianity, less than 2% of the population claims to have a personal relationship with Christ. Europe is strategic because of the influence it has on countries and cultures around the world. Through immigration and crisis Europe has become home to millions of “new” Europeans, many representing otherwise unreached people groups in their home countries; this gives us an opportunity to reach them with the Gospel while they’re in Europe. Increasing secularization, economic destabilization, and conflict from within and without have cultivated an environment ripe for conversations about Jesus.Learn more about GEMs at their website here -> www.gemission.org
