Identity

In this day and age of (over) information we cannot avoid being bombarded by messages from all types of sources that will try to define us.

Are your political views or your nationality defining you? How about your gender or marital status? Or maybe you define yourself by which company/function you belong, rank group percentile or position title.

We are doomed to division, frustration, disappointment, and unhappiness if we allow worldly things to define who we are.

The starting point to defining ourselves begins by how we see God. This has deep, profound and determining implications to define how we see ourselves. We all are the creation of the living God who loves us no matter what. If we place our trust in Jesus, if we surrender our lives to Him, we will know who we are.

You are God’s child (John 1:12), Christ’s friend (John 15:15), the salt and light of the earth (Matt 5:13-14), a member of the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:27), free forever from condemnation (Rom 8:1-2), a citizen of Heaven (Phil 3:20), a minister of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:17-21), chosen and appointed to bear fruit (John 15:16), and complete in Christ (Col 2:10).You are God’s workmanship (Eph. 2:10)!

We do not earn salvation. It’s not about performance and our past failures are not what define us. It is because we have placed our trust in Christ that we are part of His family. We have been adopted. We are loved by Christ. Gifted in Christ. Forgiven by Christ.

How you see yourself is vital. The enemy says: “Outcast. Failure. Messed up. Addict. Divorced. Sinner.” God says: “Saint. Holy. Blameless. Forgiven. Loved. My child.”

Remember, the most important thing about you is how you see God. Second most important thing about you is how you see yourself. It will make all the difference, FOREVER.
